Editorial Choquequirao trekking, quietly run
A different way to walk the Choquequirao trek — operated by InfoCusco, in Cusco, Peru, since 2001.
We are not a startup. We are a brand within a long-standing Cusco tour operator that has walked these trails for more than two decades. What sets Choquequirao Explorers apart is not novelty — it is approach.
Our roots
Choquequirao Explorers is the editorial branch of INFOCUSCO GROUP S.A.C., a Cusco-based tour operator established in 2001. Over more than two decades, we have guided thousands of travelers through the Andean routes — Choquequirao, the Inca Trail, the Salkantay, the Lares Valley, and the long forgotten paths between them.
What we do under the Choquequirao Explorers name is take a single piece of our craft — the Choquequirao trek to the cradle of gold — and offer it in a tone that suits travelers who prefer narrative to bullet points. The operational care, the certified guides, the muleteers, the cooks, the gear, the routes themselves — all are shared with our parent operator. The voice, the pace, and the storytelling are our own.
“The best expeditions do not need to be loud. They need to be patient — with the trail, with the traveler, and with the stories that the stones still carry.” — Our principle
Our team
Every expedition is led by a senior Andean guide certified by DIRCETUR (the Peruvian Directorate of Tourism). All of our guides are fluent in English and Spanish, trained in first aid, and — most importantly — passionate about the history, geology, and biology of the Apurímac canyon. Many grew up in the communities along the trail itself.
Behind every guide is an extended team: muleteers from Cachora and Marampata, trail cooks who have been preparing meals on the same routes for years, drivers who know which dawn light is best for arriving at Capuliyoc. We have worked with most of these people for over a decade.
