Three trails converging toward Choquequirao archaeological site

The Choquequirao trek, in three rhythms

Every hiker carries a different pace. We offer three carefully crafted Choquequirao trek routes, each with the same destination but a distinct temperament.

All Choquequirao trek routes depart from Cusco and follow the ancestral path through the Apurímac canyon. They differ in the time spent at the archaeological site, the pace of the descent, and the depth of the conversations along the way.

5-Day Choquequirao Trek

The five-day Choquequirao trek

The classic Choquequirao trek. Four nights camping beneath Andean skies, an unhurried full day exploring the citadel itself, and a measured two-day return through the descending light of the canyon.

Best suited for hikers who want time — to absorb the archaeology, to converse with the guide, to write in a journal at dusk. Group and private trek modalities available.

✦ From USD 499 per hiker · group shared (min. 4) — private also by quote
4-Day Choquequirao Trek

The four-day Choquequirao trek

A balanced Choquequirao trekking rhythm. Three nights along the trail, a full immersive day at the archaeological site, and a steady return through the warm canyons of Apurímac.

Our most popular Choquequirao trek route — long enough for the place to settle into you, brief enough to fit a planned itinerary in Peru. Group and private modalities available.

The three-day Choquequirao trek

For audacious hikers. A demanding Choquequirao trek pace, designed for travelers in firm physical condition who wish to reach the citadel swiftly. We strongly recommend an extra horse to support the climbs on the second day.

Reserved exclusively as a private Choquequirao trek — from one hiker onward, no minimum group required. Departures available any day of the year.

The Choquequirao full day tour

A future Choquequirao full day tour by cable car (teleférico) from Kiuñalla will allow visitors to reach the lost city in a single day — without the multi-day trek. The cable car project, announced by the Peruvian government, is in pre-construction phase. We will offer the Choquequirao full day tour from USD 99 per person as soon as it becomes operational.

For now, the Choquequirao trek (5, 4 or 3 days) remains the only way to reach the citadel.
